I updated my windows client(s) as above, and moving to update server to current version - the download site for NAS Synology gives version (1.25.3.5409 x86-64_DSM6).
Trying to install it, it halts with:
“This package requires DSM 7.0.4000 (Update 0) or older”,
The current DSM on the NAS is 7.0.1-4, which would appear to satisfy this requirement.
(assuming that .1 is older than .4)
What is wrong?
You accidentally downloaded the package for DSM 6.
At that same downloads page, Right next to “Synology” is “Synology (DSM 7)”.
You want the DSM 7 package.
Now I see the right choice - silly of me!
The install error message does seem wrong - as it indicates my V7 should work if I read it right.

That’s Synology’s error message. It’s not very clear.
It was telling you that you needed an older version of the OS than you have (which is correct).
You have DSM 7.0.1 and the DSM 6 packages stop working at 7.0.40000 (where DSM 7 began)
