Can't Update PlexMediaServer To Newest Version On Synology DSM 7.1-42661 Update 3

Server Version#: 1.25.6.5577-7000
Player Version#: N/A

Hi,

I have a Synology DS418. It is currently running:
DSM Version: DSM 7.1-42661 Update 3 (newest at the time of this post)
PlexMediaServer Version: 1.25.6.5577-7000

I am trying to update PlexMediaServer to the latest version from your website manually. The filename / version i’m trying to manually install is:
“PlexMediaServer-1.28.1.6018-c1f308c6a-aarch64_DSM6.spk”

I go to the package centre on the NAS DSM. I either stop Plex service first or do not stop it. This doesn’t seem to make a difference. I then press “Manual Install” up the top right and select said file. After uploading the file and the validation occurs it presents the following error:

“This package requires DSM 7.0-40000 or older”

As you can tell from my DSM version number, I am indeed running at a version which is older than the required one. Somebody please help.

Download the DSM 7 version from plex.tv. The file name will end in DSM7.spk.

Thanks FordGuy61. Was a different header for DSM7 in the dropdown… how frustrating.

Settings → Server_Name → General will tell you if an update is available. I don’t remember the exact wording, but there should be a link to download the correct version for your NAS. “Install Manually” or something similar.

Synology made many changes between DSM 6 and DSM 7. Because of those changes, DSM 6 spks will not install on DSM 7 and visa-versa. Plex lists the DSM 7 versions separately, under the Synology (DSM 7) dropdown.
