So I have a DS918+ with the latest 64 bit version of PMS downloaded from the plex site and installed manually on DSM. Nvidia shield 4k HDR version from 2018 has all updates installed, latest versions of all apps, geforce experience up to date. Plex player on the shield is configured to use the new player/experience and stream everything at original qualities locally etc.
No matter what I try this thing will not direct play x265 HEVC content. At one point in time I know that it was working properly with direct play / direct stream of 4k, 10 bit HDR because I watched a nature documentary and several movies in this format and verified at the time they were direct playing and did not present stuttering or buffering issues.
Now it refuses to direct play anything other than x264 SDR 8bit stating that direct play is disabled or that it’s missing a profile.
My previous understanding was that nvidia shield could handle basically every major video format / codec out there with direct play or direct stream, what am I doing wrong to prevent that?
