Hey guys,
Currently i’am using an old laptop (with Windows 7) to test PLEX.
I think PLEX is cool and i would install PLEX on a NAS in next months.
I have looked around and I like the following NAS:
Synology DS1019+
Synology DS1520+
Basically i want to have a 5-Bay Nas. For:
RAID 1 = important private data
RAID 5 = for the PLEX Server: movies, photos, etc
And with the NAS, mentioned above I can install both RAID versions.
My question is:
Have any of you experience with these NAS?
Synology DS1019+
Synology DS1520+
I do not want to buy anything that does not work with PLEX in the future^^
Regards
WW

Personally, I would bet on the x20+ series due to their HEVC capabilities.
Hi, Trumpy,
thank you for your input… I would like to collect opinions to choose the best options for a purchase
The Synology “SHR Technology” is not suspicious to me. I know the classic RAID versions, and they work (if you set them up properly) very reliably.
Yeah. I think this NAS is cool too.
But the NAS DS1019+ supports streaming 4K videos.
Will PLEX recognize it then?

The DSx19+ models use the J3455 CPU.
The DSx20+ models use the new J4xxx CPUs (more CPU power and updated ASIC).
Both have HEVC HDR decoding and H.264 output.
The J4xxx CPUs currently, due to the Intel bug, need the manual bypass in Preferences.xml (but not much longer if I understand things correctly).
