I have my Microsoft Surface running Windows 10 that I use as my media player while working on my desktop. The desktop app for Windows is not touch screen friendly at all. The existing playback buttons, while maybe they are working as intended, feel buggy. Simply tapping the button initiates and immediately undoes the action. For example, if I’m currently listening to music and I touch the pause button, it pauses the music momentarily then immediately resumes playback. I have to press and hold for a couple seconds then release in order for it to function as I would expect it to function by simply tapping it.
Secondly, while the button size is fine if you’re using a mouse, it’s very inconvenient when using a touch screen, as the buttons are each the size of a fingertip, and are spaced as such. It’s difficult to just quickly tap the control you want.
I suggest a tablet mode (Kodi has a tablet mode although the program overall is very buggy). A simple full-screen interface that shows the album art as a background with song info and large playback controls overlaid across the bottom. Perhaps a button to show/hide/toggle the playlist/album tracks. And of course, buttons that respond to a tap rather than a press and hold.
