When using the new plex client on a 2 in 1 device it would be nice to have the client to modify the user interface into a touch mode, depending on the state off the 2 in 1 device. for example in windows you can easily track the “Tablet Mode” to have the client switch modes accordingly. it’s close to 2020 now and almost every device is touch enabled by now. i think you need, as a developer, keep those mainstream happenings like “touch screens everywhere” in mind when creating a new app. since you are creating a new plex client app to replace the old plex media player app and uwp app, this is the moment to actually renew the app instead of porting the web interface which doesn’t support touch control.
I thought the new Windows client using the web interface was touch friendly. Hence the extra space around everything. But, I haven’t used it on a touch device yet.
What kind of extra support are you thinking it needs?
@kamhouse
A few examples are:
The title bar of the window stays clearly in a non touch state.
When entering tablet mode, you don’t need this title bar.
Buttons are invisible and only become visible on mouse move over event.
etc.
No way to navigate out of full screen playback to media selection menu when just using a touchscreen.
The windows store version of plex was touch Friendly, so the plex devs should already have the coding for it, they just need to add it as a setting or and auto detect type of thing to the windows app or even the web browser right?
Is it me or does touching something double click everything? There’s definitely something wrong with it.
No, I have the same issue, except in my case when I touch the play/pause button it doesn’t stop clicking and my music keeps flickering between playing and paused and sputtering until the song ends normally or I click Next or Previous.
I run Plex as a webapp on my Surface while working and it’s annoying that I can’t just touch the controls, I have to switch my KVM back to it and use the mouse when I need to stop/start the music.
