Why isn’t there an Actors category under Tags in the Edit section? It would be so helpful. Thanks
With so many same-named actors, tagging them by merely a string won’t be of much help — especially with the default agents doing a good job to pull cast & crew information from their metadata backend.
That being said… Plex will recognize embedded metadata tags listing actors. This can be helpful to tag family members in home videos. It won’t help much with regular movies / shows as such manually tagged items won’t merge with actors pulled from online metadata sources.
If you’re super desperate about manually tagging these things, you might want to check out the NFO agent preview.
This statement intrigued me, so I’ve been trying to figure out how to tag my home movies with “actors” but have so far been unsuccessful with the few free or trial versions I’ve found via Google to try to edit/add actor-related metadata to my .m4v files. Do you have any suggestions for programs/apps to use for this purpose, and is there some specific setting(s) in Plex that need to be configured to make these “actors” show up in Plex?
There are concerts, or theater performances which have been recorded but are not official movies or dvds, That is the occasion when you need to input all the data manually. And you cannot add actors. It would be nice to have a dialogue box for that, as you have for directors and writers. Thanks tom80H and Phanthercules for your time and help.
