Tautulli - Monitor your Plex Media Server

@SwiftPanda16 for the most active platforms I am noticing that although there is an entry for DLNA with a few play counts the vast majority are logged with a blank platform. Same DLNA client used but it appears most of the time, it is logged under a blank platform.

Any hints into what could be causing this? Thanks in advance.

@SwiftPanda16

Why does this stream show as transcoding yet video and audio appear to be direct playing:

Also, why does it show WAN for the location. I get that unauthenticated clients like DLNA will show 127.0.0.1 but why wouldn’t they show the location as LAN as opposed to WAN. Thanks in advance.

@almontef - Check the Plex logs. Plex logs, or maybe even Tautulli logs, would likely confirm, but it’s likely Plex isn’t being told or doesn’t know what client is being used. If Plex doesn’t know, neither would Tautulli.

Is it just me, or are notificatons no longer configurable to be only Video or Audio recently added?
My server has started notifying for audio being added which it never used to and is something I dont want it to do. (and cant see how to stop)

Is the API enabled under Web Interface? Is HTTP Host set to 0.0.0.0 under Web Interface? Can you open Tautulli from the web browser on your phone? Can you access the Tautulli API from the web browser on your phone http://IP_ADDRESS:PORT/api/v2 or http://domain.com/api/v2?

Yes, the API is enabled

HTTP host is still at 0.0.0.0

I can access Tautulli from both Chrome and firefox via my browser using both my IP address and domain unless I include that /api/v2 part in which case I get the following output “{“response”: {“message”: “Parameter apikey is required”, “data”: {}, “result”: “error”}}”

So I’m having a problem. It is connecting to the PMS database and getting those stats, but it is not showing current playing.
This is in the Tautulli logs:
2018-03-19 20:14:39 ERROR Websocket :: Unable to open connection.
2018-03-19 20:14:39 DEBUG Tautulli Monitor :: Checking for active streams.
Any tips on diagnosing?

Hello,

I have been having trouble with text modifiers after upgrading to Tautulli from PlexPy.

In particular - the text modifiers I’ve set do not seem to be “obeyed.” The modifiers like “less than sign” tv “greater than sign” will often appear in the notification when it never had before.

Imgur doesn’t seem to be working either. So I just updated the imgur API key. I use this mainly with the Slack notification agent.

PlexPy correct version of the notification:

Recently added - PlexPy version that didn’t work with Tautulli:

Tautulli incorrect version of a similar notification:

Trying to reorganize and seperate everything out in notification to see if that is the problem: Imgur
Preview - not removing out non-relevant text modifiers:

Imgur

Recently added - alternative try that still doesn’t work with Tautulli:

Screenshots of both options I have tried unsuccessfully:

Not sure if its something with me upgrading from PlexPy or something weird going on with the interpretation of the text modifiers. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

Just a question. I love everything you’ve done with tautulli. I do however have one request. The cards. They change background as you hover over each item. Is there any way the background on the cards be a solid color like the users card? I just find backdrop pictures distracting. Again, thank you for all your work.

I upgraded to Tautulli this morning, and noticed that all Chromecast data was being recorded as “Chrome” and I got so bummed out! Ugh!

then I saw Plex’s “Announcement” and saw this is likely not Tautulli’s fault. (the Chromecast screen no longers shows background artwork or anything
so bummed, but that is off topic). Anyways, coincidental I did it on the same day.

Any idea on if you folks have been in touch with the Plex folks about the data misrepresenting as Chrome instead of Chromecast? Is there a way around that?

Thanks!

Can the Conditions drop down menu for notifications be put in alphabetical order?

First of all, PlexPY is absolutely fantastic.

A quick question if i may, prior to the latest build i was able to go into several users and turn off the notifications for that user (in their user account)
so only a specific user upon playback will cause email notification to occur.

THat option appears to have gone missing
or I am having a typical male look and overlooking it.

Any ideas / confirmation if this feature has been removed?

@JonnyWong16 thanks so much for the amazing work on this project! I was able to get the docker image up and running and it’s a massive upgrade to the already great PlexPy.

Quality & Bandwidth in the pictures above. Up until recently, Before I started using PlexPy/Tautulli, I assumed that the quality of the stream in mbps was the amount of bandwidth that the stream would use (Not sure why, Just did lol). I have 18 mbps upload (On a good day), So I use to believe that I would have somewhere around 15.3 mbps overhead/left over streaming the movie above in the picture. But now using Tautulli, I have seem to have made a big mistake, Because Tautulli is telling me that the required bandwidth is doubled/tripled/quadrupled!! My sister was watching a movie, Streaming quality was around 3-4 mbps, But bandwidth was at around 21 mbps
She said the movie played all the way through without any issue, But my upload at best is 18 mbps & I was also watching a movie at the same time with quality 2.5 mbps & bandwidth 4 mbps. Thats 25 mbps bandwidth, 7 mbps more than I have on a very good day
This was not on the same network as the server, Both of us were streaming remotely BTW.

Im a little confused. I share with around 4 family members & assumed my upload was sufficient until recently
Now Im not to sure now

Im not having any issues using Tautulli, Its seems to be working just fine. Just need someone to explain/point me in a direction so that I can better understand the info in the picture above.

Thanks.

Hello JonnyWing16 and other Plexpy/Tautulli enthusiasts,

i have been using Plexpy since a while for now but recently (and accidentially) updated to Tautulli. I liked the update from the beginning but ran into a problem/difference to the version before.
I run Plex and Tautulli on an openmediavault v3.0.99. For power reasons I have a configured AutoShutdown plugin that looks for active traffic on different ports. In this list I have added the Plex port 32400. Since the update to Tautulli my server does not go to sleep because there is a constant connection on that port. It is connected to the processID of Tautulli on my server.
This was not the case with Plexpy.
Is this constant connection necessary? Is this a bug or intended?

Greetings and thanks in advance
