It seems that Tautulli no longer is a downloadable app for my Plex server. I think it was discovered to be malware on newer Plex firmware and now it’s no longer directly available.
Is this app still safe to download and install or are there other recommended products that monitor activity and send alerts?
not entirely sure what you mean by Plex firmware.
What hardware are you using? How/where are you trying to download it?
You don’t say what OS but I downloaded on Windows just now.

Boy, I must have been typing real fast. Sorry for the bad explanation. I meant on my QNAP device the software is no longer available. I believe it was found to have a malware a few months back and since then it’ s no longer available.

I stopped using it, but the last QNAP update was only 2 weeks ago. Where exactly are you trying to download it from?
[edit]. I just downloaded it (again) from that link, installed it and it is working just fine 
[2nd edit] note that it will download as Tautulli_2.1.34_x86_64.qpkg.txt - you just need to remove the .txt from the end before installing on your QNAP.
I don’t own a QNAP (Synology owner here), but personally I wouldn’t download an app from a third party site for a NAS for the exact reason of your security concern.
I believe QNAP supports Docker via Container Station, and would recommend you install Tautulli through docker using the official Tautulli docker package https://hub.docker.com/r/tautulli/tautulli
In principle, I’d agree but If you were a QNAP user you’d know that this site is legit. It is the (un)official and only download site for Tautulli for QNAP, is mentioned/linked from the Tautulli’s official site and also the QNAP official forums. It’s pretty much the QNAP equivalent of Webtool’s unofficial plugin store.
What “link” are you speaking of that you downloaded Tautulli? I was saying that I can’t download it from the QNAP app center.

The QNAPclub store download will download over of your existing app keeping all your data and config etc (if you still have it). I am not aware of any malware associated with it ever. I have been using it since it was PlexPy, and only stopped using it very recently.
