I have plex on my home media server via unraid. I want to store and organize all my photos and videos. They are currently on my home pc. How do I transfer them over to plex?
You transfer them over using either some sort of file copying program like scp or rsync, or you mount the file system from Unraid to your PC then you can drag and drop or use copy or whatever.

Spaceinvader1, who made that video, does excellent tutorial videos especially on Unraid and Plex. Subscribe to his channel and you’ll learn a lot!

Wait… I thought I could do everything in the plex media server docker GUI? Why would I need yet another piece of software?
Plex is a server software that more or less just accesses the files that it can see. If you have Plex on your Unraid server, then you either need to allow Unraid to see your home PC’s files (create a mount on Unraid pointing to the home PC) or transfer the files FROM your Home PC to the Unraid computer.
Moving of files has nothing to do with Plex, as Plex is only a presentation software. The video linked offers a program (Krusader) that is intended to help with moving files around. The process of moving files between a Linux and Windows computer is more difficult than between two windows computers.
Or between two Linux systems…
Update: Success! Didn’t need Kusader but SpaceInvader1 did help. The key was adding another path to the Plex docker, which “points” to where on my home server the files are being kept…I guess… Anyways, I can now see all my stuff in Plex, on any device, on or off my home network, which is what I’ve been trying to accomplish for literally months. Thank you everyone for your help.
Ah yes, Unraid uses docker apps. And yeah, the path to your media needs to be exposed in the docker container. Glad you figured it out.
Keep watching the Spaceinvader things. He makes good, interesting, and informative videos mostly about Unraid. I have watched a lot of them and even though I use Synology and not Unraid, I just translate the concepts and have learned much from him.
