My girlfriend moved from Thailand and I wanted to add Thai subtitles. I’ve used opensubtitle and Sub-Zero. They claim to download Thail subtitles, but the text actually looks like Sinhala (or similar). Could this be a font problem? If so, how do I get the correct font.
Are they .th or .tha at the end just before the extension?

Always verify the text encoding is utf-8. Opensubtitles still host many with different encodings.

I didn’t get a chance to look at it last night. I have one option for the movie I was downloading subtitles for. Also, the font looks this way in virtually every single movie I download subtitles for. What do you mean by verifying the text encoding is UTF8? Is this something I can change?
Yes. Open the SRT file in a text editor which can show you the text encoding. For Windows 10, even notepad.exe can do it. For older Windows versions, download https://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v7.7.1.html
Or use Subtitle Edit, which can even convert a whole folder full of SRTs to UTF-8.
How about in Linux? Is there a tool for Linux?
I am very sure there is, but I have not much experience with it.
