Thank you to the Rasplex team - a great experience

I’ve been a Plex user for a few years with PMS running on unRaid and my main Plex clients installed on Windows 7/10 HTPCs that keep the entertainment cupboards rather warm and need constant Windows updates. I also have Amazon Fire TVs although these are primarily for Amazon Prime TV and NetFlix particularly with the current audio issues and the need to transcode higher bitrate media etc.

I bought a Raspberry Pi 2 Model B a few days ago to try Rasplex and it has been a phenomenally positive experience. I am able to direct play 30-40GB Blu-Ray MKVs with no issues at all. Jurassic World and Avatar both played flawlessly with full surround sound. The Pi 2 keeps very cool in the cupboard and the freed up space allows the Yamaha receiver more room to breath.

While I had a couple of initial issues, neither was due to Rasplex. I had a reboot issue caused by a poor quality CanaKit 2.5A power adapter, and some challenges getting FLIRC to work with my Harmony hub - however both issues are now resolved.

The experience has been so good I’ve just ordered a second Pi 2. The total cost for the Pi 2 including power adapter, memory cards etc is less that the cost of just the graphics card in the HTPC it is replacing. More importantly it receives the wife’s nod of approval for ease of use - no more Windows updates etc to worry about.

THANK YOU TO THE RASPLEX TEAM! GREAT JOB!

Many thanks for the feedback.

Can Rasplex decode the 7.1 sound from your Blu Ray rips? I was curious

i only have a 5.1 setup and that works fine.
