The 100 Season 5

Hello,

I have been trying to add the first 5 episodes of The 100 Season 5 to Plex but only the first episode gets appears and is under Season 1 as “Episode 100”.

This how I have the files on my computer - a folder titled The 100 then a folder called Season 5 with 1. The 100, Season 5, Eden 2. The 100, Season 5, Red Queen, etc.

The same thing happens if I jut call the file 1. The 100, Eden - which is how I named episodes of Supergirl, Arrow and The Flash and the show a normal on Plex…

Can anyone help?

I just noticed that the number 5 appears in the top left corner of the Episode 100 thumbnail.

I assume this means that Plex believes the five video are the same thing but I don’t know why.

Your names all are totally wrong.

According to proper naming conventions, the file title should have the season number and the episode number present. It ideally should look something like “The 100 - S05E01 - Episode Name” which will exist in a Season folder under the Show folder. Reference the link others have provided.

The reason why it works this way, is that Plex looks at the file name and cross references the TVDB to match up not only which episode, but other descriptive data about it. If you label all of your episodes in each season simply 1, 2, 3, 4… it will assume they’re all the first season, and group them together (hence the blue number 5 you’re experiencing).

There’s a brilliant program out there called FileBot that can help you properly rename your files in bulk.

It took me a while to figure out how to play by these rules. Once I did, everything has been silky smooth.

The other shows I named work fine the way I had them, but thanks for the link.

I had searched for something like that but got no matching result.

That has solved.

I actually did know this when I first started using Plex but I mainly add shows from the BBC iPlayer and they add to Plex with just this. 1. The Bridge, Season 3, Episode 1 - which is the name when I download them. The other CW shows add to Plex fine with just 22. Arrow, Life Sentence.

It had been so long since I needed “S05E01” that I forgot.

Thank you.

Welcome. While it’s true that some shows will pick things up that may not be named right, and display correctly, the only way to guarantee it is by following the system Plex expects to see.

It took me a while to really learn the science behind it, but once I figured out how it works, I’ve never had an issue. I do all my file renaming before I put it into Plex. Once that’s done, I drop it in, and it gets it right every time.
