The backup file com.plexapp.plugins.library.blobs.db has only weighed 0 kb

I have a problem with the automatic backup of my database. It’s stored on a NAS
But for some time now, the backup file com.plexapp.plugins.library.blobs.db has only weighed 0 kb. The file is not copied and remains in tmp format on the server. The log shows an error: Couldn’t rename file : Stale file handle

Are you putting PMS’s metadata (/var/lib/plexmediaserver) on a network mount?

If so – DO NOT DO THAT!

  1. There is no file locking.
  2. You’ll get the “Stale File Handle” error message shown here.

What does /var/lib/plexmediaserver resolve to? Local or Network?

No, everything is local,
only the scheduled task goes to my NAS (/mnt/plexdb).

This is a problem where you’re saving the file.

Diagnosing from a snippet is almost impossible but I suspect:

  1. It dumped the DB and then moved (mv) the backup → the remote file server.
  2. While the file server was digesting the backup, PMS started writing the blobs backup
  3. When it was complete, it also wanted to move (mv) the blobs backup to that same host directory – however – it had gone offline.

You need to investigate why the file server is going offline after large transfers

first of all, I’m going to leave the db backups on the local server and see what crap my NAS does.
