The fastest SD card for Rasplex?

Hi.

I need a new SD card for my raspberry to run Rasplex.

What is the best/fastest card to use for rasplex.

 

I see people say that you should use Class 10 card. But I have read that many Class 10 cards performs really bad on small files (4 k random read/write).

Is 4K read/write speed important for Rasplex performance? 

The class 10 cards are fast on big files, but often much slower on small files than class 4/6 cards.

 

So what cards is the optimal for Rasplex?

You want to have a class 10 SDcard (4Gb or higher).

I have a sandisk ultra with decent read / write speeds (20-30Mb/s). I know there are even better ones (extreme i think) which have speeds around 90Mb/s but these are quite expansive.

rasplex will load quite a bucnh of things from SD so you probably want to get a fast one, which will improve the overall performance.

Whatever bard / type you get, go for a class 10 anyways.

I have read on raspberry forums that many calss 10 cards have horrible performance on small files. Class 10 cards are fast on big pictures etc in transfer speed. But in reading many small files, OS etc, it is not fast.

There is also no point in going past 30 meg ones as the connection is saturated by then. You may get a better speed boost by using a USB stick with it.

I use a ScanDisk Ultra Class 10, the 30MBs is not very important, but it works fast with small files and that ist more important. The Extreme Card or others can work with more than 30MBS but are slower with small files. And that makes it really fast loading Cover and fanart from Cache.

I'm using a Sandisk Class 4 card (for the much better 4k random read/write performance vs. most Class 10 cards) and, apart from caching-related slowdowns, it's generally plenty fast.

The fastest card is a fast USB3 usb stick (like Sandisk cruzer extreme), you install rasplex on it instead of sd card, and everything loads perfectly !

I bought a Sandisk cruzer extreme 16 Go USB3 and a SD card SDHC Kingston - 8 Go - Classe 10 (not receive yet..) I will try both with Refocus Black Blue edition skin and the latest release of Rasplex. I will give you my impression of speed and will film it to see how sandisk cruzer extreme is faster than SD card class 10.

In one week i hope.

I have a Sandisk Class 10 30Mb/s and a Transcend Class 10.

The Sandisk seems to be faster for me.
