Anyone know how to make this show work, if i name the seasons the actual season name, it will incorrectly label them(s04 shows up as s01)

I have no idea what i’m supposed to name these, i can only force a match from the show level, not from the season.

Mind sharing a specific example of how your files are named and how they’re organized inside your library directory?

Edit:

You should always name season folders as Season XX (where XX is the actual season number, not a season title)

So on TVDB season 01 is technically the “July 18 Marathon.” But Plex doesn’t recognize that, so I have no idea how to match that up.

Is there a way to tell Plex to use TVDB for just this folder? I tried naming a root folder to the way Plex has the seasons, it still puts them all in the same listing with the incorrect seasons.

Don’t use season titles…

    Season 01
      …

I believe there’s an unofficial option to include season titles after the Season XX pattern — though as it’s not documented it might also be dropped at some point. Personally I would just ignore naming seasons in the file system and let Plex load the season titles automatically (or manually name them within Plex if you’re using an agent which doesn’t support automatic season titles or if you disabled that option).

Right but for Plex, Season 01 is “[Season 4 - Shudder Season 1]” and season 2 is “[Season 7 - Shudder Season 2]”

It won’t recognize any of the other seasons as listed on tvdb:

My current folder structure is exactly as you have posted, which Plex views incorrectly.

Sorry I don’t follow… what exactly do you mean?

Also… can you share the specific actual file/folder names and hierarchy from the folder linked to the library?

This is one of the fun (not) shows where TMDB and TVDB have things listed very, very differently.

If you pick TVDB ordering, Plex will list season names. However, you will not get episode artwork. TVDB deleted existing artwork and locked the show due to abuse (someone uploading incorrect artwork).

If you pick TMDB ordering, Plex will not list season name, but you will get episode artwork.

To pick default ordering for a library, edit the library → Advanced → Episode ordering. You can also enable Use season titles if desired.

To pick episode ordering for an individual show, overriding library default, edit the show (pencil icon) → Advanced → Episode ordering.

You will have to adjust file names accordingly. What is s01e01 for TVDB is not s01e01 for TMDB.

And no matter which ordering, you still have to follow Plex naming & organization requirements.

Ah, yea you get me. Ok, that kinda sucks, I switched to tvdb and the episodes are right just no metadata, I think I’d rather have that than it being wrong though.

Wonder if I can rename all the files to just s0xe0x and put the seasons in gibberish folder names and force match each one. Will try when I’m home from work.

**got it, using {tmdb-xxxxx}
