The libraries are empty on Linux Mint last edition

Server Version#: 1.18.4.2171
Player Version#:

Hi guys,
I am under big pressure from 3 days ago. I installed the Plex server on my home desktop computer under Linux Mint 19.3 (Tricia). You know it is Ubuntu based. So, everything was fine until I start adding libraries to the server. Let me first explain the computer’s configuration. It has 4 HDDs attached:

  1. The main HDD is divided by 2: the first partition is for Linux, the second is for data - movies, music and pictures.
  2. The second internal HDD is only for data - movies. It is NTFS formatted.
  3. There are 2 external HDDs connected by USB to the computer. Both are NTFS formatted to have a possibility to connect them to the TV to.
All of the data HDDs are organized by folders named Movies and Series. Each folder Movies has subfolders named Action, Adventure, SciFi, Western, Military and so.
Tree days I try to add the libraries to the server but the result is nothing. No folders, no content. I checked the permissions and added user plex to my own group. No luck.
This morning I tried to add folder from the Linux partition. I was very confused - there was no problem! Pictures and videos from the Linux partition are visible but all other content from all other places isn’t.
The interesting is when I start adding folders to some library the Plex server is showing the folders and the external disks in the Open dialog. But then nothing more.
And one more thing: I changed the permissions to all data disks to 777 which means everyone has permissions to do anything but again no luck.
Please help me because I do something wrong. Where is my mistake?

How are you mounting those different disks?
e.g. w/ regard to

/etc/fstab

Hi Tom,
The USB external disks are mounted with the start of the computer. The others I mount manually. All of them are visible by this way:
/media/stas/External-HDD1
/media/stas/External-HDD2
/media/stas/MyData…

You’ll likely need to use the information at the link below to create manual mounts for the external/NTFS-formatted disks:

The auto-mounts which Gnome/Nautilus create cannot be accessed by Plex no matter how you set their file/directory permissions.

Yes. It is correct. Yesterday evening I found a post written here which explains the situation and how to fix it. It really works. Now the things are fine. Thanks!

Where’s the rest of your post
Anything we can help you with?

Thank You, Tom!
Yes, there is something I can’t understand. I am web developer since many years and I know Tizen is HTML5 based OS. I mean the applications must be web based. So, in the set of folders and files provided by Orca here I see index.html file in the root level. That’s fine. But my TV can’t load it. In the explanation by Orca is written just make folder Plex on the USB flash drive, copy there the unziped content and connect the drive to TV. A new icon will be shown and you can start Plex from there. But there is no new icon on my TV.
How I start the Plex? With connected USB flash drive I push the on/off button on my remote for 3 seconds. The TV restarts and when I chose the normal Plex icon the Plex from USB drive is started. There is no other way for me to start it.
I tried to switch off the TV. Then I start it and chose the Plex icon. But the result is the normal Plex is started. The problem is Samsung TV can’t work with 2 networks in same time. You can chose only WiFi or cable. But not both of them. All my computers at home are with 2 lan cards - one to the switch with Internet and one to the switch with local network. And I want to use my Plex server (installed on my main home desktop computer) through the local network. And there is the problem. When I start the “normal” Plex provided by Samsung it says “No network” because it is searching for official Plex server in Internet. If I switch to WiFi the Plex starts normal but can’t see my home Plex Media server through local network. It is paragraph 22!
So, my question is how to start Orca’s Plex without restart of the TV?
P.S. I changed the permissions of the entire pack (Orca’s) to 777 but the problem persists.

Mounting devices: Using EXT, NTFS, or other format drives (internal or external) on Linux
Using Plex player on Samsung Smart TV
From the Developers - If there is any news, it's in here!

Sorry… I’m completely unaware of the inner workings of those Smart TVs

I’m quite impressed what you can read from a post that says nothing but “Where”
