After I tried to create a Smart Playlist with a wildcard (%) in the album genre, I can no longer access my music collection. This is always acknowledged with an error. In the browser interface everything works as desired. It seems that there is a saved setting. Unfortunately I can’t find anything where I could reset this setting.
I would be very happy about a tip.
I’m a bit confused, when you say you can no longer access the music collection, then you say everything works in browser?
is the whole music library gone from the left side ?
can you access the recommendations or playlists tab?
does it work in any of the apps?
did you try if a different browser? or try incognito mode ?
were you still in the filters stage, or did you actually save the filters to a smartplaylist?
With a little more detail:
The problem only appears in the Plex app on my Mac.
No, the music library is still visible on the left side. The error occurs only when I select the Music Library on the left side.
Neither recommendations, media library nor playlists are visible.
It’s functional in the web interface and the “old” media player.
You triggerd a detail: I’m still in filter mode, unfortunately it is no longer available. You can briefly see the attempt to display the filter, then the error message appears.
I’m not sure, that is the original english message. I’ve translated it from german…

ok sounds like plex is remembering the bad filter.
see if you can go to the settings and find/uncheck the option 'remember selected tab
worse case scenario, try logging out of your plex account, only within that mac app. (usually top right corner > click your initial > sign out)
Neither tip helped, but you put me on the right track. “Restore default settings” was then the solution.
