The option to record a series is not in the dvr record menu

the option to record a series is missing from the menu. in the server web page and all the different clients i use. ios and android.
it will record the one show but the drop down menu for single or series is not there. help!

Chances are that your XMLTV guide data doesn’t correctly indicate that the item in question is episodic. It will need to include the episode-num element for the item. Here’s an example for an episode of Star Trek:

                <category>Adventure, Science fiction</category>
        </programme>

This one includes three different episode-num elements, but only one of them is required.

Have a look at your source data to ensure one or more of these elements are present. If not, you won’t be able to record it as a series, only individually.

Also I’m using the exact same xmltv file in channels dvr and it works great .

I don’t know if that helps with ideas on direction?

That is a snippet from my XMLTV file; it shows a single airing of Star Trek, including the date and time of the airing, the episode numbering, and the original air date (previously-show).

If you’d like to upload your XMLTV file I can have a look to see if the requisite information is present. Just make sure to include the series name you’re trying to record.

Or, you can just search the file yourself; find the show name and include the parts between the:

<programme>

and

</programme>

tags.

Where is plex storing the xml file? I’ve been looking around and can’t find it.

Plex doesn’t create or store this file; you provide the path to your XMLTV file to Plex when setting up your DVR.

ah ok. ya my xmltv file looks nothing like that. just lists the link to the channel that i can see.
ill have to figure out how to make or get a better file.
