Can't DVR Category

Hi, created a new category for my TV shows, however, I can’t seem add it to my designated recordings. My “TV show Recordings” does not appear on the drop down menu. What can I do?

This is likely due to incomplete guide data for the series in your XMLTV source file. Locate the XML source file and open it in a text editor. Search for “Blue Bloods” and paste the section which contains it here, including from <programme> to </programme>. It will looks something like this:

<programme start="20220930220000 -0400" stop="20220930230000 -0400" channel="7.1">
        <title>Blue Bloods</title>
        <sub-title>Silver Linings</sub-title>
        <desc>Jamie and Joe search for an undocumented teenage girl who has been sex-trafficked; a woman in witness protection is murdered; Frank calls out the district attorney's office for instituting a new rule that classifies armed robbery as a misdemeanor.</desc>
        <icon src="https://metadata-static.plex.tv/7/gracenote/7cd3cc900a4f28dd2354601fef0a8f3a.jpg" />
        <episode-num system="SxxExx">S12E20</episode-num>
        <episode-num system="xmltv_ns">11.19.</episode-num>
        <episode-num system="original-air-date">1651824000</episode-num>
        <previously-shown start="1651824000" />
        <category>Crime drama, Entertainment</category>
</programme>

There needs to be certain information in there which indicates that it is episodic content, specifically one or more episode-num elements.

For background, Plex will only allow you to select a TV Show-type library as the recording destination when the content is a series. If it is not, it will only show you your Movie-type libraries as a destination to which you can record. That’s why the above is important; if the show isn’t marked as episodic (AKA a series) in the guide data, it can’t be recorded to a TV Show library.

Thank you… I had a hunch it might have to do with the XML. There truly is a lot of basic information missing. Some stations literally display “no program,” or “no data.” No way am I going to manually input information. Do you know of a better EPG/XML source?
