Yes, I run the server on virtualized CentOS Linux. I tried the Windows plex server as well and everything appeared fine there. But we’ll see what happens tp Catnip…
So I can’t reproduce the issue using the windows Plex Media Server so far.
But I’ve installed Plex on my secondary NAS server, copied across a video library of 46 films into a folder on my primary nas, then mounted the folder on my secondary NAS and added it to the new plex server running Version 1.23.5.4862. I also added the local folder to my primary NAS original plex server running Version 1.22.3.4523. So exact same set of files and folders, 47 folders, 46 films (one folder does not have a film yet).
Secondary NAS Plex Version 1.23.5.4862 folder CIFS mounted from primary NAS shows 45 films
Primary NAS Plex Version 1.22.3.4523 local folder (same folder mounted above) shows 46 films
So reproduced the issue with a new install on a new plex install from scratch.
Issue persists on synology plex server Version 1.23.6.4881
I’ve had the similar issues where movies are marked as unavailable/trashed, but a play icon will appear over the unemptied trashed version and still play. The mount is also CIFS, but to a different NAS brand.
I noticed that problem earlier this year when I was on DSM6. Existing movies kept getting marked as “newly” added again, so I turned on manual trashing, hoping they would self correct. They didn’t auto correct nor do they get corrected when I manually kick off scans. It only happens on the two libraries that read mounted drives. I was hoping DSM7 would correct the problem, but after updating about a week ago, I’m still seeing the issue.
I’d like to downgrade to last version of 1.22 for ARM DSM7, but as I recently upgraded to DSM7, I don’t have any 1.22 versions of the Plex SPK around. Does anyone have a download link handy for the latest version of Plex v1.22 ARM for DSM7? I can’t seem to find old versions on the plex site.
Plex doesn’t usually host old versions – there’s some exceptions with the side loading URLs posted in the Android client release announcements. When it comes to DSM7 you don’t want to downgrade as that platform has only just been released/stabilized with the recent releases – I’m not even sure there was an official release 1.22 for DSM7
I was able to find it @ https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server-new/1.22.3.4523-d0ce30438/synology-dsm7/PlexMediaServer-1.22.3.4523-d0ce30438-armv7hf_neon_DSM7.spk
HOWEVER, in reading about it on the forums, it doesn’t look like downgrades are necessarily supported. I’d have to uninstall and re-install. Rather than risk corrupting the underlying data and having to rebuild it all, I think I’ll just use a temporary work-around until the problem is fixed. I’ll add PMS to my other NAS and just deal with having to pick the right server.
issue persisted in Version 1.24.0.4930. But I’ve now switched to NFS shares instead of CIFS and all is well with my setup.
Confirmed switching over to NFS instead of CIFS also fixed the issue for me.
Thanks for the heads up, @Catnip_Lemming!
