Hey there,

Yep - probably because episode 6 is named ‘8’.
TMDB doesn’t have it - so I fixed it in an edit.
Not worth waiting for - or worrying about.
TVDB is always an adventure.
It’s correct on TVDB.
Yea, but we don’t know what state the Plex Proxy is in… and the last edit to TVDB was 2 days ago - the proxy should have gotten it 24 hours ago, but didn’t.
Already taken care of - doesn’t matter now.
Took 1 whole minute… including the episode thumb.
How is it taken care of?
Still wrong here.
Guess you didn’t fix yours.
If you hit that ‘pencil’ as you hover over the episode(s) - you can too.
If you go to TVDB to get the editing material - it’s over way before you can make a Feature Request to have it looked into…lol
what is funny about that?
So you are suggesting that plex does not fix the metadata but everyone of the thousands of ppl using it fixes it locally themselves? That does not sound like a proper solution to me.
I am not asking for someone to explain to me that i can edit metadata myself. If i wanted to do that, i would have done that and not go to the forum.
I am telling plex they got their metadata wrong and hope someone from the Team sees it and fixes it.
So no, this one is not over just because you got your fixed manually locally.
I’m suggesting I fixed mine in about 40 seconds and have moved on. It’s no longer an issue on my end, but I do appreciate the heads up. <—it might have fixed itself in a day or two, but now I don’t have to worry about it… thanks.
You can do that or you can do something else.
sigh This is tiresome.
I know i can fix it manually, everyone knows it. I simply reported faulty metadata to Plex and not ask you to tell me if that is fixed on your end, if it matters to you, how long it takes you, how you did it or if the problem is over, according to you (especially since the metadata provided by plex is still wrong).
I know you are just trying to help but you are not being helpful.
I just refreshed the metadata and the episode titles and descriptions are right… but the thumbnails are still wrong…
You’ll have to change the Thumb Manually.
Unless you Plex Dance the whole thing:
All Steps
In the order given
or it won’t work
Weird, even after refreshing it still wrong here.
i’m facing the same issue , usually there was an option on PLEX to dissociate the metadata and search for new ones, but something is weird i can’t find the option anymore… did you guys moved it ?
sorry English is not my mother tongue , hope you get what i meant, if u could just tell me the patch in order to change the medatada via internet search like i always did when an association error occurs.
edit , i found out my i had this issue, i was on the recommended screen , i could try to edit it in my library but same as @orko the plex proxy must be a bit late cos it doesn’t find the twilight zone 2019… weird cos the first season should appear in the medatada search results …
So I’m still having this issue after doing the “Dance” multiple times. I know I can fix manually, but trying to understand what is wrong here.
When the library is being scanned and the episodes are initially added they are being shown with a certain thumbnail, which is NOT the ones that are on TVDB, but still appear to be correct thumbnails for the show. I do not have any local metadata for these episodes (anymore, I deleted them and danced the files).
After a few seconds of downloading the metadata, the Episodes #'s all change to names and the thumbnails refresh to what the TVDB has. Thumbnails are right, but episode 7 is still named “A Small Town” and Episode 8 is also named “Downtime.”
I’ve Danced as well with no favorable outcome.
I really think it has something to do with E6 being named “8”, but… we’ll never know.
The fact is that after a few days the Plex Proxy is as updated as it’s going to get, so if you want this right ur gonna have to hand edit - and I’ve done it again and moved on ‘again’…
Seems weird that the thumbnails are right but episode names are wrong…it should know the correct one. But…you may be right.
I guess I’m not up on what the “Plex Proxy” is in this regard. Is there a centrally hosted Plex server which we pull metadata from which only updates from TVDB every few days?
Yes, that’s exactly it.
If Plex turned these hairy beasts (we users) loose on TVDB all at once - TVDB would be located under that Mushroom Cloud - where ever TVDB’s Servers are.
So… Plex has a TVDB Proxy - and aims all Plex traffic at it, instead of TVDB - and yes it updates from TVDB (proper) once a day.
Something is amiss - that is certain.
I doubt if we get any official Plex comment, or relief, as it seems they have all hands on deck with this new matching ‘thing’ - that may, or may not, be just what we need.
