By now I use Plex for more than 2 years and it’s the best media-center ever!

So the greatest respect to all the team.

But even the best programs are not perfect and like Apple you should always look out for innovations and so I give you a little collection of features that would make the ultimate Plex:


  • be able to set “recently added” movies as main category

  • password protect your pms library (at this time everyone in your network can connect) partly included yet

  • more customizable layout (i would really like to remove the taglines, ratings and sort titles)

  • more customizable scan-routines (at the moment you can only set 1 scan-time for all categories at once)

    this can save cpu usage and improve the performance

  • ‘now playing’ being shown in the ios-app

  • get the ios-app the typical ios7-look

  • recommend (shared) movies to a myplex friend of your buddy list

  • make playlists in youtube-style (instead of online video queue) in combination with plexsync able to sync content to the mac (not only to ios devices) for better performance

  • no ratings but like or dislike (youtube-style)

  • tag the must-see content with a star or something to highlight them and put them together in one category

  • comments instead of ratings

  • integration of hue-api to set cinema ambiance

  • myo motion support (thalmic labs)

  • mark special editions like directors cut, uncut, special extended, remastered etc. to give detailed information about content and if you have one movie in different versions like theatrical cut and extended cut

  • german language localization (plex media center for mac)

  • the ouya-version doesn’t support movies with more than one file yet

This one is already possible. 

There is an option in the setting to "require authentication on local network". 

If this is checked only those with a myplex account will be able to access the PMS library

If you navigate to server settings and go to myPlex and click show advanced settings, this option should be in that area

seems to work so far but i hope that it really only works for myplex users that are on my buddylist..

Besides your own myplex account, the only other myplex accounts that it will allow in are those that you have shared your server with.
