Plex Server is installed on my Mac Mini. I access the server libraries on the same Mac Mini (which is connected to my TV so I can watch) via the 127.0.0.1:port# URL in Chrome. This has worked well for years.

For the past months, when I try to play some files, they don’t start playing and I get the error: there was an unexpected error during playback.

The same file plays perfectly fine in VLC, or when I access Plex from my phone. I just installed the Player App and the file plays fine in there as well.

Seems a bit stupid to stream it when it should be able to play the file directly though - at least that’s what I think is happening when I use the player and not the localhost URL?

Is there any way to fix this so I can play files using only the server app again?

I’ve searched the forum but can only find a whole bunch of people with the same issue, and closed topics with no solutions…
