Getting this error…‘There was an unexpected error loading this library.

And Plex is running really slow. Any ideas?

Me too. Just started with this error today. Mine has been slow for a long time though, I just figured it was the way it is.

I’d kinda like to watch some movies…

I’ve got the same issue, taking quite a few tries to get the libary to open succesfully.

I’ve got the same issue since late March (running up-to-date plex server with plex pass on mac)
My movie library has about 1’000 items and my TV Show one has 150 Shows with about 10’000 episodes.
Please Fix, it used to be so good…
Thanks

I get the same message after trying to update my library. How long does it take to update the library? Maybe I’ve done something wrong because it literally takes days.

I get the same error message, running on Ubuntu linux latest server version

Same here… very irritating.

same here… any solution?

Same problem, any one knows the solution??

First thing to try if this happens is to “Optimize Database”.

Same problem here. Has happened twice and can be reproduced.

Plex newbie here. Running version 1.5.5.3634 on FreeNAS. Brand new, clean installation. I’ve been able to add Music, Videos, and Movies as new libraries. No issues. After I create a new library for Photos I get the following when I click on it:

There was an unexpected error loading this library

So I completely removed all of Plex and the storage shares from my FreeNAS and started installing Plex again. Same, exact problem happens. But only when adding libraries that are for Photos.

Yes, I’ve updated the libraries. It skips right over the Photos library. Yes, I’ve optimized the database. It’s a virgin installation.

Any suggestions?

I am just starting with Plex and I’m getting this same error. Not a very good start!
Any fix for this?

Me too. When I initially opened the server on my iMac i was expecting to have an App running that I went into but it just goes to a browser page for the online service. Got the message above…

HOWEVER double clicked on the server app AGAIN and all worked fine!! (so far)
Just linked my TV so will see what happens

Very relieved to find that the server app doesn’t move files around on my iMac (phew - there was an initial panic there). However does seem to only take files from Pictures and Music folders which might be problematic as ALL my pics and Music are on a separate HD as libraries are too huge to be on my iMac HD

You can add alternate or additional locations for the PMS to look for those files. In https://app.plex.tv/desktop# go to the … to the right of the library you want to look at and choose “Edit.” From there you can select other drives or locations as needed.
