It seems too much of a coincidence we’re all having the same problem at the same time. My problem is similar but instead of movies it’s TV programmes I’m getting There was an unexpected error loading this library. Plus I can’t add anything to any of the other libraries I have.
Not sure who you are including in “we”. No one else mentioned having the same issue in the other thread.
If you can provide your entire PMS logs after trying to update your library, I can check it for errors related to the database. You can check for a database issue yourself using the instructions in that other thread.
Is there a solution to this? Ive had the problem on my tv shows now for weeks. Ive re-installed everything, including libraries a few times. Majority of the time its corrupted straight away or works for a couple of days. Ive had my movies library do it once as well.
Need a fix or roll it back to the stable version - I’ve not had plex errors since its birth, Ive used it daily for a good 10 years.
I am running into this issue and 'Unexpected error loading Dashboard" as well. I actually just downloaded the server and loaded in some libraries within the last 30 minutes and haven’t even gotten to check it out yet. One thread was suggesting going into command prompt or something but I’m not computer savvy and I got this because it was supposedly easy to use. Not sure if I missed something basic, but I’m certain there were no prompts to do anything once I loaded the initial libraries.
It’s working okay now. But to solve the problem I had to delete the app from the Drobo and reinstall it. With the amount of data I have it t take almost a week to get everything up to speed.
I’m also having this problem. One library (external drive) is fine, but the other keeps returning the “unexpected error” message. I’ve reinstalled Plex three times, removed and added the library again and again. No solution.
hello i am now having this issue right after i changed the username and password to my plex server. Any suggestions on how to fix? none of my libraries load, they all say " There was an unexpected error loading this library Please visit our forums if you continue to experience problems"
Windows 10
PMS: 1.15.3.876
I came across this issue yesterday. I did a repair through command line and it brought back my dashboard. Then, i had to fix my permissions for my TV Shows in order for plex to see them. I’m having the same issue with the movies library. The difference is that i can see the movies if i go by folder instead of all. I’m not sure what is going on but any help will be great.
I’ve been getting a similar error message when attempting to scroll through the movies list in the guide. I can scroll about half-way through the list without a problem, then all the movies disappear and “There was an unexpected error” appears. From that point, no matter how often I try to reopen the Movies view, all I get is a fraction of a second of blank placeholders with “loading…” below them before they all disappear again and the error reappears. The rest of the guide appears to be working as expected.
I’m running the FreeBSD version on my FreeNAS server and it’s fully up-to-date with those releases (last checked today, currently installed version 1.15.3.858. I update using the procedure documented here). Restarting the jail holding the server makes no difference.
Edit: could be a PMP issue: killing and restarting the player seems to have brought the list back.
I’ve been having this problem since 1.14 was introduced late last year. A rollback to 1.13 “solved” the issue, but anything newer than that (1.15 included) brought the problem back. I assumed if I started my library from scratch, it would solve it, but since I had too much stuff, with too many manual tweaks, I figured it wasn’t worth it for the moment. But today I had to start a new server on a different computer, with a different OS (Mavericks vs High Sierra now), and I just got the same error message. Can’t access my files at all. The only thing in common between the two servers are the media files (I moved the external HDDs) and my Plex account.
I judt tried selecting my main movies li rary via firefox web and it kept selecting a different one instead. Eventually I decided to delete the different one -which was a small, new library I created a week ago. Then I tried selecting the Movies library only to have the error that the page couldnt be found, then after a restart I got the same error as talked about here.
I tried a few things but nothing worked.
Decided to go the update rollback route.
Only when I tried v13.0.0 did I suddenly have the good old Movies library back and working.
So much for it not being a Plex issue.
Stuff their updates. I am sick of Plex coders. Hence why I stopped buying Plex pass. Dont need one.
FYI I got the same error when using the Edge Web Browser against v14. I switched to Chrome browser and it worked fine. So maybe try a different browser to consume?
