my main focus for feedback in the past few days has been around focusing the current live TV experience to get that a bit of love. Checking the list of issues I see a few, but can you help me understand what features around OTA and DVR you are missing? Apologies that I don’t have time to dig further here and provide a more detailed response before a time conflict.

You’re all good! Thanks for taking the time to reply. :plexheart: There are a few things missing. While I can schedule a recording from the guide, or “What’s On”, there are missing options, like preferring a specific day/time slot, or SD vs HD, start and end padding, or locking to a specific channel. Basically everything that’s in the “advanced” section when you look in the web app. These were all present in the previous iOS app.

Once a recording is scheduled, there is no way to see the recording schedule, or to manage the recording priority list either.

These are all things that I used to use several times a week, so I’ve been missing them a bit.

No, of course they don’t have any plans on prioritizing anything that isn’t an effort to get you to buy into their subpar subscription offerings or collect more data on you. That was the entire point of this update. The previous codebase focused on Plex as a frontend of your personal media library, which isn’t at all the focus of Plex these days. The priority now is… actually, I’m not entirely sure what their primary monetization strategy is given that they don’t offer anything that isn’t already offered better by numerous other platforms; but either they their current focus is milking the remaining users for every last drop, and there’s no room whatsoever in that plan for users who only want need a media player for their personal library. That doesn’t make them any money.

And fanboys, please, don’t even start with the “a company has to make money!!” nonsense. We all know that a basic version of Plex with the same features we had a decade ago and nothing more is all most people want out of this service, and they could have provided just that while still taking in more than enough money to turn a profit from the lifetime subs alone.

Honestly this entire app feels like it came out of a hackathon effort of a single engineer.

I know it’s not your particular fault, you don’t make these decisions, but as some sort of engineer yourself you must see how bad it is to release a “new” experience without feature parity with the old one.

You have some sort of voice, you really should try and raise it louder for a reversal rather than continuing to improve something that’s bad.

I’m going away in a month or two once I have enough time to setup all my automations and change all my software to jellyfin from plex, and from the looks of the plex and jellyfin forums many people are doing the same.

I’m running the latest beta on a Windows server, Homerun on my cable provider and and can stream live or recorded TV to my Roku TV and while I can stream to my Android phone, my guide date is non-existent and everything says Unknown Airing. :cry:
I have logs from my phone, but I can’t see how to upload anything other than photos from mobile.

I’ve been a Plex user for stone a decade? what I have no clue what your problem/bug s, what platform/device you are using, etc.

I’m sure you’re frustrated by the development times and lack of updates, but this isn’t helping get things fixed and sorted.

I know many people on this forum are frustrated, but I think it seems like a lot more because people are saying the Dave things over and over, creating new posts for existing issues, etc

Or a single thread gets so long, and people lose control and infect other users with a poor attitude.

There are several bugs introduced into features that worked in the old software, but no longer with the new experience.

They’re are UI and performance improvements that need to made, and more.

And even I follow up on them I go back to my OP and quote it so that people know it’s it’s an existing issue and can be followed and tracked.

I’m not an employee, I’m not anyone special or has any input, but I do give from a project management background in the computer and chip industry and know I world be going crazy trying tob make sense of all that posts on here - many if then don’t even say what device they are using!?

IMO, the Plex employees on here are doing an exemplary job and should be treated with kind words - like we all do

It’s just a period of instability. The app is getting better after every update so I don’t know about “they’re not fixing this”.

Hopefully lessons are learned and they’ll look back on this experience and not do something like this again.

I have been trying to run this one down to make sure it gets prioritized. Earlier this week I was able to replicate on my devices, but today I am unable to replicate. Is this still not working for you and can you share your device and the version of the app on your device?

Edit: also can you share your PMS version? The EPG for LiveTV comes from the server, so it may not be a client issue here but could instead be a server issue.

It is happening on the client, for me it starts at 8PM EST but will work the next AM. If you jump ahead a day then all entries also disappear.

OK - this is very useful feedback as 8pm EST also happens to be midnight UCT which is a convenient time to trigger some background processes. Let me pass this along and see if it helps shake something loose here. Much appreciated!

Well, I have a different result today as well.

I can see the show Title of the currently airing program, but not for any future shows.
Web UI I see all show Titles for seemingly every airtime/air date.
Roku new Experience Beta, I also see the entire guide listings

I took a screenshot of Plex Android’s About page and the version number today is the same as yesterday when I tested this.

OTA (Live TV) doesn’t work at all and It’s been raised many times.

Sometimes the guide time doesn’t even match real time. The following 2 pictures were taken before and after removing/reinstalling my DVR (note schedule time time error in the first one):

Either way though, no Live TV.

No. I’ve frozen my app and server versions and will not ever be upgrading again. Not only have their updates been complete disasters, every single bit of their communication after the fact has been blaming the users, while promising to work on the features like live tv that literally no human being wants. On top of that, they’re faking reviews on the various app stores.

They’ve decided they’ve made all they can off the plex pass and are moving onto deals with streaming services so they can milk users in entirely new ways. I will never give Plex another cent.
