This file just doesn't want to play right on the Nvidia Shield pro

im using my shield tv to play a file via plex from my qnap nas that is running the plex server.

im just wondering if there is some type of format inside this file that is not compatible with plex player? Since the file works fine if played on the tv built in player and in VLC on the shield all be it without Dolby vision in vlc.

The problem in plex with this file is that its stopping the and getting stuck kinda like a massive bandwidth problem but i know that isn’t the issue.

Dolby Vision 5 – isn’t supported. It’s a ‘direct to the player’ format created by Dolby. These files are created ‘for TV only’ (not saveable)

That file was captured by something/something. Replace it.

Ah ok thats good to know. i was a bit unsure since most dv files that doesnt work just shows colors in green/purple but still plays fine.

Green/purple is DV Profile 5 as well.

What they did was remove the HDR layer from the file.
The result is DV can’t be transcoded to H.264 because that layer is missing
( transcoding + tone mapping converts the BT2020 colors from the HDR layer into BT709 colors for H.264)
