I need this process for an iPhone. I am trying to downgrade Plex on our iPhone to the older “Classic” version . This .apk [ https://downloads.plex.tv/Kepler/kepler-arm64-v8a-googlePlay-10.26.0.2578-6cc7ea1a.apk] will not work on iPhone. I need the iOS version. This new Plex app is horid, A classic version needs to be made accessible for people who never want to deal with this crap. I have had the Plex Pass for several years. I use it on our phones to access our music library in the car and internationally when on vacation. I also use it in our house [on Roku] for Pic’s, videos and music that are housed on my Network/Computer. I would like to keep using it. I have no interest in using this new trashy version. Please help with a link to the older iOS version.
Thank You
Dude I’m not gonna defend Plex to my dying breath but you got told off for repeatedly both singling out people and threatening to write up a list of people who need to be fired, this is kinda on you dude this isn’t gaslighting or anything like it lmfao
Many people are calling for firings, I’m not the only one, and I explicitly said in my post we should avoid naming names of individuals.
I did not threaten to write a list of people’s names.
Anything critical of c-level executives is getting actively deleted from the forum. Doesn’t seem like they are ready to accept accountability.
I’m sorry, let me correct myself. You said that the only way to improve the situation is to make a public list of the positions that lost their job over the update. Still weird as hell dude!
Ya I don’t care about a list, I just want people who can’t do a job right removed or those who ruin a great thing to no longer be a part of it. I’d not be surprised if it was some nepo-baby that came in thinking they could get more ad revenue by forcing everyone to have livetv and plex videos on main screen, only to have devs make a ■■■■ app in revolt for the terrible idea that is against the core of what plex was created for.
They just need to find the root of this bad idea and pull it out.
You’re not forced to have those on your home screen. You can disable them very easily and there are multiple guides both on here and on the plex subreddit for how to disable them.
Agree 100%, I dont think we are asking for too much.
Haven’t read the whole thread, but in case this hasn’t been mentioned: the already downloaded videos in my “downloads” category (which you have to hunt for, because of course you do) are there in some kind of zombie “migrated” state whereby you can’t scrub to the point in the video you want–if you try it just starts the video over.
To get that functionality back, you have to delete the download, find it again in your library, and re-download it. If you have a whole mess of videos downloaded (say 10 or more) that takes some time. Thanks for giving me an extra thing to do today, Plex!
BTW, what the heck is the thing in Settings: Downloads: Wi-fi only about? To not try to do it over mobile data I suppose?
Your answer shows a lack of experience.
Please do educate me as you seem to think you know better than someone who’s used plex Since it’s inception.
It needs fixed for a non admin managed account and yes the server settings do have live tv and everything under “Online Media Sources” disabled for managed accounts…
And under said managed accounts Live TV and DVR access is disabled as well…
And as a heads up…It’s never worked, but best you have is to unpin it from the app which for some reason is now not possible. Not only that but it also added a permanent Live TV button on the bottom so please also add how to remove that.
Sad truth is Plex may be on the way out. I’ve already almost moved to JellyFin once they started the “show everyone what you are watching and let us collect data on what you watch to sell”
But they did allow some opting out of that.
This clearly was a push towards making money which was not the source of plex success.
Honestly all this had made me look over plex and seeing that they charge now for playing your media outside your home. I’m disgusted.
I bought my plex pass lifetime for I think 70 bucks purely to support the project, maybe it’s just me, but trying to choke money out of people isn’t going to work. Current pass is $249.99.
Emby lifetime is $119
JellyFin is $0
Actually you know what. F it. I’m out. I knew this was gonna happen as soon as they started looping in all the streaming services and doing their own live tv. That wasn’t what we wanted and you ignored your base for too long.
Bye plex it’s been a nice 15+ years.
The main issue with Emby is the device limit. The $119 fee covers 30 total unique devices, which is each one of your media devices in your house, mobile devices etc. A lot of folks with Plex sharing enabled would be done within a day by sharing with even 2 family members.
I’ve just gone and set them to fully disabled, not just for managed users but just flat “disabled”
I’m happy to point you to where to do it, but there’s no Live TV tab on my app, there’s no Plex “Movies & Shows” tab on mine either.
Reverted to the old version as well. New version I can’t find where I can change the layout. It just sucks. I only want to see what I want to see. The speed of the app was also a major step backwards as well. Loading. Playing. Pausing. Skipping. Scrolling the library. Just to name a few things. All these things just lagged the hell of it. The new experience truly is a step backwards. And then I noticed that half of my videos won’t play because I can’t disable EAC support. In the older version you could just uncheck it. New version doesn’t. Couldn’t find it at least. So just saved me the hassle and just downloaded the “classic” version, disabled updates and saved me the headache.
Everything is working fast, without errors and as I want it to look on the older version. Thank God for mirror sites with older versions.
Let’s hope they fix this. Otherwise I’ll be forced to switch to Jellyfin and just use that. There goes my lifetime purchase
Where did you find it.
Scroll up a bit and it’s there for ya. ![]()
Merci merci merci merci !!!
Comment ils ont pu foiré autant avec leurs nouvelles interfaces… Impossible que cela a été testé.
Thank you for publishing this. I followed the instructions on my tablet, then on my phone. I have fully rolled back all my devices now. I have also been in touch with all my friends and family who had expressed a dislike for the new and botched app. I linked this to all of them, and everyone rolled their devices back too. Just counting my server, i can account for 27/27 people who have rolled back their apps. Thats a pretty terrible advert for the new app if 100% of users i my test group have rolled i ack. I hope this prompts the developers to pull their heads out of whatever orifices they are currently in, and strat listening to their users once more, like they used to.
Thanks again. Youve made a huge difference to me, and also to all my friends and family.
I’d rather, they just fully abandoned the current app. Roll back to the earlier version and leave it well alone.
Thank you so much for the direct links to the 10.26.0 apk!
After the recent update the ui has become incredibly slow, laggy, and bloated. Wasting so much precious screen real estate. It is an unusable and abhorrent design. On top of that the ability to remotely control a dedicated player no longer works, I could not connect to my Raspberry Pi running RasPlex, or my FireTV stick.
Updating the apps ui just for the sake of updating to stay relevant when you had a great app that worked just fine for years is such a waste, why do companies do this? It seems to be a common trend with apps recently.
I will use 10.26.0 until it stops working or these terrible changes are reverted. Whatever team/person who designed this “new” version needs to find a new job.
I think I’m going to have to do this whole song and dance as well till they get the “new and [the opposite of] improved” things fixed. What a PITA. And I paid for a “lifetime” Plex Pass too.
Downloads to device are just crapping out mid-stream, apparently. They’re dog-slow in any case. Way worse than the old Android app for phones.
