Hi all,
I’ve this issue since 3-4 months trying to play all my SD files while no problems usually reported on 4K, 1080p or 720p files if I’m not changing their resolution, it appears immediately after I play any of these videos.
I don’t think the computer specs are the problem being an old Core i7 3770k with 24gb of ram that is exclusively dedicated to plex, CPU utilization is always under 5-10% and moreover before these months it always worked correctly without any issue.
There is no GPU but just the integrated HD Graphics 4000.
I’ve this error everywhere except for the Android app on my smartphone:
- web player using Chrome, Firefox or Edge (LAN);
- LG TV with Plex app (WLAN);
- remote users using web players (WAN).
I tried to update Ubuntu from 22.04 to 23.10 and then also to 24.04, always the same error.
I tried to change about any quality/configuration settings on server side without any effect, below some example:
- Automatically adjust quality (Beta) (On or Off)
- Video quality > Maximum
- Play smaller videos at original quality (On or Off)
- Home Streaming > Use recommended settings (On or Off)
- Plex Web > Debug > Use alternate streaming protocol for video playback (On or Off)
- Transcoder quality
- Disable video stream transcoding (On or Off)
- Use hardware acceleration when available (On or Off)
Server logs with debug enabled, if needed.
Obviously I’ve looked for a lot of articles here and outside but nothing works for me, please I’m getting crazy looking for a solution, do you have any idea?

[update] installing windows server 2019 and plex server on the same hardware, then reconfiguring all libraries and settings like the first linux installation…
it works perfectly everywhere
