I’ve researched this in the forums and have been a longtime lifetime Plex user with roughly 1500 movies on 3 RAID synology 4TB drives. PMS is running on my iMac (OSX 10.13.6 2.7 GHz i5 24GB mem). The automatic generation of thumbnails used to work fine and stopped working consistently roughly a year ago (maybe more). Now the only way I can consistently get thumbnails is to manually analyze the movies which consistently triggers the thumbnail generation. The server (iMac) is setup to generate thumbnails automatically, but never seems to unless I manually trigger it. I’m always on the latest beta version (currently at 4.12.3).
I’ve been patient and doing this manually but would really love it if this was fixed. Workarounds have been going on too long (e.g. plex dance). I’m happy to provide info if it’ll help fix it.
