Timeline Photo Date calculation

Hi,

I’d like to know how Plex calculates the date of a photo, when ordering the pictures in TimeLine.
Which Date/Time metadatas does it look? Which calculation does it do for each photo?

I’m trying to understand how it wprks, because I have many photos in 2017 that were taken years ago…

Big thank you
Jose

Hello,

I’m having the same Photo Timeline view issue as described above and would like to add to it. The following dates of all files in all folders were updated:
* Date
* Date Modified
* Date Created
* Date Taken
All of the files are organized and named as directed by Plex. Thank you in advance for any help or direction.

Lou

The date is taken from the exif data in the photo itself.

Well then that is definitly not working. I’m having the same issue as the op. Photo’s and video’s getting the timestamp of when it was uploaded to Plex server. Would be nice if this can be looked into because now the photo timeline is pretty useless.

Can you provide me a couple of photos so I can test them?

I am having a similar issue, except instead of just being out of order, the actual days of the timeline are out of order.
I might add that the out of order picture (Oct. 23) belong in the Oct. 22 group.
Right now they go:

  • Oct. 22, 2017
  • Oct. 23, 2017
  • Oct. 18, 2017
  • Oct. 16, 2017
  • etc.
