I do see several (old) threads about this, but no clear answer it seems. I do like the Photos > Timeline option, but it’s using the “wrong” date (modified, vs. taken). This seems to be the case with all clients, so I believe it’s the server using this incorrect date. Is there a way to configure / fix this?

I had this issue as well, but it seems to have been fixed in the latest server update. I just update now and the timeline is displaying the proper dates for all my photos now. Try updating and see if that helps?
Sort of … :-). I had a few pictures that had no Date Taken before … so I corrected that, and it is corrected on the files (confirmed!) … but Plex is not updating. Tried refreshing metadata, and rescanning the library - but no joy. Thoughts?

Got it working! Had to do the Plex Dance to properly / fully refresh, then the Date Taken is being used. Woohoo!
