Hopefully I’m not posting prematurely, apologies if I’m posting incorrectly, first post here, appreciate everyone’s assistance. I’ve read through some really, really old posts but nothing quite matches what I’m going through even the ones that are only a year old. So I’m guessing this is a ME issue but I’m just struggling to find which direction the problem is. Shield? Plex Config? EXT HD?
I’m currently migrating a cloud Plex server to a new Nvidia ShieldTV Pro running as the PlexServer.
When testing some of the movies that I have migrated from my cloud based server over to the externalHD connected to the Shield, I’m having playback problems on any movie(haven’t tested TV shows) with 5.1 sound it seems. They all fail the playback. When started it spins and spins and spins then I get an error. Lesser audio formats all work. Higher quality video works. It seems to be around sound.
These films stream fine from the cloud server to the appleTV but they fail when streaming from the shieldTV.
ShieldTV has external HD attached 6TB USB 3.0. ShieldTV is NOT wired. It is wireless. Wireless network is google wifi (newest available this year) AppleTV is NOT wired. Same wireless network and in another room, but only about 17’ away. Connection is strong so I don’t think it’s a wireless throughput issue, especially since when testing, virtually no other network traffic was active.
I think the problem is maybe Audio Passthrough? I have HDMI enabled. Not sure why that would be a problem but I haven’t tried disabling it yet. Remote Streaming Audio is configured to “Original”
Can someone point me to the right testing method, or what to look up next? Or if someone has had this issue and think they know what it might be?
So far digging everything Plex has to offer, second guessing my Nvidia Shield purchase though, wondering if I should have just used an old laptop with Linux on it.
Cloud based server is Ubuntu. If that makes any difference at all.
