I like this addition, its a nice little tuck away for the sidebar when you don’t directly need it.
When this is shown, would it be possible remove the title bar directly below it. The one that says Home and has the cast button on it, maybe move cast to the now new top bar. It feels odd having a second bar here.
I now wonder would shrinking the side bar to just the icons (remove the text) be a nicer design than moving it to a top bar. Something similar to what the traditional hamburger menu does on the plex desktop clients …
I love the top bar title removal option. I think the sidebar → top bar is really slick even if non-traditional.
With the resizing of the sidebar, it kind of gives most desktop-users the flexibility already. If more data becomes available in the main view, maybe resizing the sidebar to icons only will become more viable??
It would be interesting indeed to see if resizing the sidebar going to icons only could be pulled off elegantly. I like the icon sizes the way they are on my screen as they are (super small) and would be happy if resizing to icons only would keep them that size as well. I could be missing something though.
I really love it but dont really have any feedback on suggestions at the moment, or if it would be possible to merge the title/back/cast bar with it when activated (or if that opens a can of design worms)
(I wouldnt want to move < (back) from the left corner since it seems intuitive to be there, but cast could of course pop up. The title on its own does serve a purpose.)
It is an appreciated mode though. When Desktop first launched, one of my first thoughts was missing the ‘big screen’ home layout when I realized the mobile layout wasnt on a toggle and only pops back on resizing
Top-bar navigation is a best of both worlds option and easily accessible.
That said, I still dont know which mode I prefer. Both are easy to navigate. Maybe ‘Artists’ is a link I miss having in 1-click. The ability to make the sidebar wider helped me push album grids and track lists more to the center, going full width undoes that (always looking to the left was giving me eye strain tbh)
