I was able to refresh metadata on my music library curious to see the track Genres with the 1.40 beta server. The genres are very broad. No "Rock* genre for instance. 75 percent of all my tracks were put into the “Pop/Rock” genre. So it’s almost like not having genres at all. Would like to see some more varied track Genres to make them more meaningful.
This is expected when using the native agent. Almost any music has this genre. Finer distinguishment is made with Styles.
If you want to define your own genres, you need to
- write them into your music as meta tags
- set the Genre source selector to “Embedded tags” in the properties of your library
You may have to “refresh metadata” of your library afterwards
No such thing as track styles in my library. I was hoping the new addition of track Genres would be more varied.
Where are you able to see the track genres? I don’t see them on the UI
You can see them in the library filters for all tracks, not (yet) when looking at the infos on a specific track (which I hope will be added soon).
Yes, I was looking for genre in Track Info…let us hope it gets added soon.
