95% of my movies used to have a trailer for them. recently though i moved my library mount point for organizational purposes. and i ended up losing all the metadata so I made a complete library metadata update. But barely 30% of the movies ended up with a trailer. Even if i update the movies missing a trailer individually, no trailer is added. what am i doing wrong?
Simular issue here. Refreshing metadata of a movie, and the trailer is gone.
On top of that, the imdb rating is also gone, and TheMovieDb rating is showing in stead?
I tried refresh all metadata on my movie libray, and, like you stated, barely 30% of my movies have a trailer. Those with the suddenly missin trailer, also have the rating from imdb missing now. Seems to be related in a way.
be sure you have enabled trailers from metadata, also under your libraries be sure that is activated there to, and set your player how many trailers to show
@Seven_ : The problem is not the playing of trailers, the problem is that the trailers are just gone, even if there were trailers first. On top of that, the metadata is showed from the wrong source (see screenshots)
It was correct before, showing the trailer button and corect rating and plot info.
I’ll list any relevant settings here, if you think another setting is relevant please ask for it and i will provide it:
library language: swedish. (I’ve tried english, same issue)
Find trailers and extras automatically (Plex Pass required):on (I have plex pass)
Include extras with subtitles in Library language : off (tried with on as well.)
@seven_ : what do you mean by “be sure you have enabled trailers from metadata”?
Which metadata agent are you using for your movie library?
(‘edit’ the library, then go to the ‘Advanced’ tab to find out)
Please post a Plex XML info of this movie as an example.
Did you activate the checkbox ‘Plex Movie’ under
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - TheMovieDatabase
?
metadata:
scanner: plex agent
agent: Plex movie
cast:Imdb
rating:imdb
plot: imdb
yes plex movies is activated.
added xml.
I’ll try to use TMDb as a agent meanwhile. :EDIT: nope, no luck.
@ferreto1978 i am still on PMS 1.4.x due the incompatibility from my 2013 Samsung TV plex player and newer PMS server, so i am not sure what extra setting are on the newer server
also, this issue is not regarding trailers before the movie. it’s about looking at a trailer that’s associated with the movie you potentially are about to watch.
so, now it started to work all of a sudden for some of the titles. but not all of them…
here is a few that dosen’t work:
ok, this is very weird… sometimes it work and other times it dosen’t, like I can update the metadata one time and no trailer is added, but if I try again with the same movie after a few minutes then it works. looking confused
those that i posted earlier worked after a while but these dosen’t work no matter how many times i run them.
ok, now those also worked after like 10 tries… wtf is going on? will I have to go through the entire library by hand to make sure it have a trailer… wtf is this.
It could be a networking issue.
Plex is combining metadata from several sources.
Is your server connected hardwired to the router?
hardwire 100/10 super stable.
@“Karl Blixt” : Simular behaviour here. Sometimes it seems to kick in. Other times it fails again. Most of the times, it fails.
@OttoKerner : The PMS is connected to the router directly with proper cabling…
it seems like changing from plex movie agent to tmdb agent fixed it. A few movies not having a trailer is better then half the library not having one so thank you for your help, I’ll mark this answer as the one that answered my question since it would be clearer for others reading this thread. although it’s still very unstable and only sometimes add the trailer.
Answer: changed from plex movie agent to tmdb agent in library settings.
@OtteKerner: what agent do you have for the library? try tmdb if you have plex agent currently, and white a few minutes before trying again… i ended up running through my library three times to try and make sure all movies got it. doing my third now.
@“Karl Blixt” : So you just changed the agent and scanned the library? (So not refresh metadata ?)
