Trailers before a movie don't seem to use local assets

I’ve noticed a couple issues with the random trailers before movies.

  1. They don’t seem to leverage local assets, which is disappointing. I’ve been transcoding my collection of DVDs for years, and have thousands of movies… most of these have at least one trailer, and a larger percentage have several different trailers. I’ve found the trailers streaming from the net are frequently lower quality, and run into buffering issues. Is there a way to use local trailers (even exclusively) that I’m missing?

  2. Minor point, but they don’t seem very random, or frankly appropriate sometimes. Could you limit trailers based upon similar genre or rating to the movie being played? I’ve seen hard-R period movies about Nazis play before a kids movie, which is off-putting at best. I’ve also seen the same half-dozen trailers get played on nearly every play for weeks at a time. The randomness could be solved by simply expanding the available resources to include local assets.
