So, this issue has been happening for a long time and today I decided to share with you guys and try to find a solution for that. I created two clean log files to make your troubleshooting easier.
I set up my Plex to play two trailers before a movie starts, but for some weird reason, on scenario 1, trailers will always be transcoded to SD, which makes the quality bad and in many cases the video will start buffering. Once the trailers are finished, the movie will play without any trouble.
Extras - Scenario 1
Include Cinema Trailers from movies in my library
Include Cinema Trailers from new and upcoming movies in theaters
Include Cinema Trailers from new and upcoming movies on Blu-ray

On scenario 2 where I chose to play trailer related to the movies I have in my library, everything plays instantly without transcoding. After the trailers are finished, the movie will play without any problem.

Since trailers are streamed from the internet, not from my server, someone could blame my Internet conection, but I’m pretty sure my download speed is more than enough, and if speed was the problem, I’d be facing the same problem in both scenarios.
Finally, my questions are:
Why does it happen only with trailers not related to my library?
Is that a known bug?
