I have a folder with trailers… anyway to link said trailer to the movie from a different location??
EX:
d:\trailers\wonder woman 2017 ( folder )\wonder woman 2017 - trailer.mp4
and the movie resides in e:\movies\action\wonder woman 2017.mkv
so i can see the trailer button both on website and roku device
No. The trailer is a “local extra” and local extras go into the same folder as the main movie, with which they are associated. https://support.plex.tv/articles/local-files-for-trailers-and-extras/
so I’d need to create a folder…
ex:
e:\movies\action\wonder woman 2017 ( folder )
wonder woman2017.mkv
wonder woman 2017-trailer.mkv
so then each movie would need a folder within the main MOVIES folder? correct…
Yes, and this folder organization is urgently recommended.
Doing it that way can speed up certain operations massively, since it has no longer to scan a massive folder full (of dozens or even hundreds) of files.
more like a thousand …
Then you may notice the improvement probably earlier.
I just counted ; that will be 3208 folders, to create. Plus it will be an additional click into to see the movie and trailer…
OR take it out of FOLDER view and switch to MOVIE view and look through 3208 movies…hmmm
Tip: Filebot can create the folders for you.
