Trailers is repetitive!

I'm simply here to say that at least 8/10 times I'm getting almost the exact same movie trailers I just watched in a previous movie. It would be nice for implementation of additional ways to get more movie trailers or something of that nature. There are tons of movies coming out that I know have trailers yet are not being shown at all. At least something that stops trailers from repeating more than once over X times.

At this time I've turned off the feature because of how repetitive it is.

These are the settings to get the biggest variety of trailers.

How do yours look like?

Having the same issue.  Setup the same.

Sorry forgot about this post. Yes, my setup is the same to get all trailers for all sources. Yet, I'm still getting extreme repetition.

I also have been watching the same 2 or 3 trailers for months now.

its a me too. I'm afraid. It renders the trialer feature useless to be honest. It would be great to have someone from Plex comment. Heck the latest trailers are all available on youtube etc - can't Plex just scrape those results or similar based on the genre of the film?

I've also have the same problem. So frustrating, the trailers feature could be amazing. In it's current form it's very repetitive and when it is something new it's usually a trailer for some random low budget independent film. I can count on one hand the number of times a film with a budget bigger than 5m is displayed is displayed.

Whats more, I can't believe there isnt more response or info from the plex devs on this.

Yep, same here. Always the same 2 trailers for months it seems. Low budget, foreign, documentary. Doesn’t matter what kind of movie you’re about to watch or your settings. I’m surprised more people aren’t on this forum actually bringing attention to the subject. It’s a shame, could be a very nice feature otherwise.

It's been like this every since the feature was introduced and has been brought up countless times in these threads. I'm sorry to say I don't see it improving any time soon.

I only use the local trailers, but I have literally 300 movies and the vast majority of which have trailers available (I would say at least 200 at the bare minimum) and yet I always get the same trailers. I set my trailers to five and basically end up skipping every single one because I’ve seen them 4-5 times before. For variety I turned on the other trailer options but I still get the exact same trailers for movies in my collection (I just get it mixed in with the DVD releases).

If they can’t fix the random selection, surely it would be simple for the plex server simply to remember what trailers have been viewed and stop them from being played randomly while there are any trailers that haven’t been viewed remaining.

And if that is too difficult, just remove the limit on pre-film trailers. If I can have 10 trailers, I can just skip the repeated ones and I should have a reasonable chance of getting at least one I haven’t watched recently.

Same here, guess we’ll just have to wait until they get around to it.

Same here… there are 6 or 7 threads on the same subject, I have sent Plex (as requested) logs and examples and data… but still the trailers are 90% foreign language and all are repeated over and over and over again,.

I am also having this problem and I’d be interested in an answer. I’ve tested it and I am shown the following 6 trailers over and over, in some combination, every time I turn on a movie.

Die Hard (My library)
Calvary (My Library)
How to Train Your Dragon 2 (My Library)
L.A. Confidential (My Library)
Meet the Patels
Bridge of Spies

Any word if this has gotten better?

Seems like this is still a problem. I had to turn off cinema trailers because we were getting tired of seeing the same 2 or 3 trailers for over a month…only made worse by the fact they were for some sundance/documentary type movie things which looked boring as can be.

Same here. They should be able to fix that fairly easily. Another thing is that I don’t get trailers that match the movie I am actually watching. Imagine the face of my five-year-old when she and her sister put on Kung Fu Panda and got to see the trailer of The Conjuring 2 or some other horror movie. Some better algorithms for that would be nice too. My wife is now asking me to turn off trailers, because she is afraid this will happen again.

Has anyone noticed that if you have stacked movies in the same library (different bitrates etc) that with trailers on you cant select which version to play?

With trailers off in PHT or PMP there are dialogs that will pop up asking which version of the file you want and if using the ios app as a remote you can select which version to play but with trailers on … the function does not work

Anyone…
