first i changed the library scanner agent. or whatever it’s called. the second list menu anyway. then when i updated nothing happend, i then waited for a while (5-10min) before trying again and then stuff started to happen. not always but on some of them and then i just did a few full library meta update.
I tried to change the agent, refresh the metadata (took a while) then changed the agent back, refreshed the metadata again and the first part of my movies was ok, then suddenly, it started failing again. Later on the day, I tried refreshing metadata from one movie, and that seemed to work fine. I tried it on several movies, and it worked fine until a certain point. Then it all failed again. Now in the evening, I tried refreshing a single movie again, and it works again. It looks like I can only do so many queries from imdb in a certain time frame (which doens’t make sense).
Two XML files as an example. The same movie, about 15 minutes apart. Started from a movie with imdb rating and trailer. Refreshed metadata -> trailer gone, and rating gone. 15 minutes later, refreshed metadata again --> imdb rating ok, trailer back. No changes in the settings/agents. Why is this happening ?

Please add your server log files (don’t forget to enable ‘debug’ logging first)
or we can only assume some kind of network influence.
This behavior seems familiar to me, I’ve also figured that there might be an time based request limit.
Tried again this night. A great part are OK. Several missed.
Now updating the missed ones manually …
Most seem to update, sometimes I have to try 2 or 3 times to get them right.
Side effect: When the updating works OK, and I click “Fix Match”. The list fills in pretty quickly. Once it starts failing, it takes forever to fill in the list.
When you use the imdb id trick, same thing on the speed there.
I see mostly success messages in your logs.
There are sometimes network timeout messages when it comes to fetching Extras, though.
I wonder, have you ever cleared the local cache of your metadata agents?
Shutdown Plex and perform this procedure: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/202967376-Clearing-Plugin-Channel-Agent-HTTP-Caches
(Just don’t do it too often, or it may have the opposite effect.)
Side notes: IO see you are using the opensubtitles plugin.
Consider switching to SubZero instead.
Language of the subtitle can be indicated for external subtitles. You just need to add the language code before the filename extension (e.g. movietitle.nl.srt)
If all your external subtitle files are in the same language, this can be achieved with a rename action for the whole drive in one go, if desired.
Tried the clearing cache earlier. No effects then.
I have had the same issue for a couple of days now… No trailers or extras on anything new I add, if I update metadata on a movie that already has a trailer (and/or extras) then it goes away.
I have also tried all the things, clearing caching, doing the dance. Every time I could find on the forums - still not getting any trailers og extras. No errors in logs that I can see.
Edit: Tried setting up PMS on another machine, scanning the same files, still not getting trailers or extras.
After a few days of working properly, sudenly, the no trailers and missing imdb score problem re-occured. Logs in attachment.
And it kicks in again after a few minutes. Logs included.
Why is this. It sure is anoying.
What kicks in?
The trailers reappear on a second attempt? That sure happens from time to time.
Allow me to clarify:
As stated earlier in this forum, several people noticed a strange behaviour with he automatic (downloaded) trailers, which is a feature with the plex pass.
From time to time, trailers seem not be found, and when that happens, fetching the imdb score seems to fail as well. Even after trying several times, it just doesn’t work. But when you try an hour or a few hours later, or sometimes even the next day, it suddenly works. It is very annoying, especially when you refresh metadata, and notice that the trailer suddenly is gone, and can’t get it back, unless you wait for x amount of time and retry it. It clearly is not a normal behaviour, and it would be great if we could find the reason behind this, hence the several log files we uploaded.
I was told that there were lately some performance issues with the cloud infrastructure of Plex (where all the metadata are cached and assembled from the various sources.)
Engineers are working on the issue and are optimistic to have a solution deployed in the near future which should make metadata lookup more reliable and faster as well.
I did notice that when the metadata is retrieved fast, the reult turns out OK. When it starts taking a while, guaranteed the result will fail (timeout you mentioned you noticed in the logs, I guess). Hopefully it gets fixed soon, since this issue has been around for a while.
Sorry for addressing this again, but the trailers issue is present (in the meantime v1.11.0.4666)
Short recall: when for example (for any reason), one would refresh a movie library,
for the first movies, the trailer links are fine (and also the critic rating which seems to be a related issue)
and then suddenly, no more trailers links for the next movies (and off-course critic ratings)
■■■■■■ part is, if you refresh a movie that has a trailer link (and proper critic rating), it disappears after the refresh.
Even stranger, if you wait for a few hours, a day, … refreshing will update a few movies, then seems to fail again.
Quite a few users have reported this problem, on several forum (not just the official plex forum).
It would be really nice, if this would finally get fixed, since I really like the trailer part,
which is main reason why I took the plex pass actually, so you can understand my, and many others, frustration I hope.
Thanks in advance
Example: Lady in the Water.
Tried refresh -> failed, tried refresh again -> success.
Notice in the xml files
versus
…
This is done without changing any setting, just keep refreshing metadata until it kicks in
There were again some issues with the metadata servers last weekend.
After clearing the agent caches and another refresh it should normalize itself.
