Trailers won't start on my Nvidia Shield - Error with audio codec? (more below)

Yes, with “Deaktiviere Video-Transcodierung” it works again.
Even longer than 10 minutes. If I want to watch a trailer, it must be converted, i.e. the image must be converted. Movies themselves are still direct play.

Plex for Android 9.7.0.34466-beta

  • Player: allow trailers to direct play.

I’m gonna test it right away

Hi there,
I can confirm that trailers are running with 9.7.0.34466-beta at Shield

(PMS: 1.28.1.6041 Windows)

thanks for fixing it!

I can confirm too, trailers are back!

Thank you @anon18523487 and the Plex team for the good work you did!

Glad to report its working again on latest beta.

Not glad that it took 4 month and felt like we have to somehow “convince” you to take a look at it, or somehow proof via logfiles etc. Don´t get me wrong, i think we are all willing to help by trying things, uploading logs or alike, but not if it feels like we have to proof that something isn´t working. I, like many others would rather see you fixing stuff than introducing new features for the next 6-12 month. Well, if this took 4 month already, you might just get another 2-3 bugs fixed…anyway, glad it works now.

I need to add a few more things:
Please somehow display the reason/error message if/when something isn´t working, in this case
[MediaDecisionEngine] Unable to play; server unable to transcode video
[MediaDecisionEngine] Unable to direct play
I think we´ve had this a long time ago, e.g. the reason for not direct playing or so was shown.

Or when a subtitle is set not only to “default” but “forced” and the video has to be transcoded, but it can´t becaouse i disabled transcoding on the server. It took me hours, to figure this out the first time this happened, when it should have been pointed out by the player, maybe even with an option to ignore the “forced” field in the mkv file.

Or if a mkv is missing a proper index and you can´t e.g. resume where you left or jump back/forward, I want somehow a hint that a proper index is missing.

Make the server-settings and the databases im-/exportable (maybe even ask for the new file location at import, if a change is detected), we all change hardware from time to time.

Speed things up, we all have more than one core. Thats a difficult challenge, but its worth it as our librarys don´t tend to get smaller.

Transcoding to x265?

If my “type of updates” is set to “beta”, don´t give me the link to the public version!

But don´t tackle any of this within the next 6-12 month, theres other stuff to do!
