Can we please add the transcode DTS-HD MA 7.1 and TrueHD 7.1 to DD+ 7.1 on AppleTV?

I vote yes, this is my number one need for Plex on Apple TV.

7.1 now works in Plex on Apple TV. PMS will convert to DD+ which supports 7.1!

I just tested this. Now True HD will work fine. DTS-HD MA converts the back channels to the surround channels so this is not working correctly. The DD+ now does not work at all. I do not get audio.

My experience was with AppleTV where everything gets converted to DD+ and then AppleTV output PCM and I got 7 channel surround from DTS-HD MA.

I get 7.1 channel output to the receiver except if you do a sound check you will see the back channel surround gets merged into the surround channel. Your audio receiver will see 7.1, but the actual audio never makes it to the back surround channel. Instead the audio goes to the surround channel. The issue is with the conversion to DD+.

I have similar problems on the Apple TV 4K.
I found out that Infuse 6 Pro (with Plex integration) does Direct Play DTS-HD MA 7.1 as well as TrueHD 7.1. No transcoding, no compressing, full 8 channel sound.

Only downside is that the interface of Infuse is a lot worse than Plex itself…

Yep.
I just bought Infuse 6 because of the proper audio decoding and LPCM output.
In fact, I bought the Apple TV 4K specifically because of the audio codec support in Infuse and a lack of options/capability with Roku.
I have/had a PC hooked up so that all formats were sent along properly but the everyone else in the house NEVER switches to PC to watch using Plex. They don’t care about the audio difference that I can very much hear going between the Roku DTS transcode and AppleTV LPCM. It’s like the entire dynamic range got better and everything clearer…

I would ABSOLUTELY PAY MORE for a Plex tvOS version with proper decoding the way Infuse does it. The Infuse interface is trash. I just want Plex to work correctly on tvOS.
Personally I’d pay twice the Plex Pass price just to get decoding that Infuse has.

Infuse has shown that there is a way to deal with the audio transcode issue on tvOS devices.
Why is Plex lagging when they are the defacto winner in every other area? Yes I know it requires licensing the decoders. I’m willing to pay more for it.

Any progress / Workaround on this? Just experienced the same issue on a PS4! Back and Surround Back channels are merged.
