Hi, I have been getting this error for a while now. Have tried multiple restarts and transcoder setting chagnes. Still cant find a solution
When I try and record something from the guide thats already in progress it sometimes works ok. 50/50.
When I have a scheduled recording it seems to always fail. 100%. Just get a “There was a transcoder error”
Any help would be appreciated.
Windows 10 Pro
AMD X3 450 3.2ghz
4GB Ram
Geforce 9500GT
Networked HDHomerun brand new.
All wired connections
What version of Plex Media Server? Have you looked in the Plex Media Server logs to see if there are any other messages?
I have gone through them a little bit, but I’m not really sure where to look for this error. I was trying to record a tv show. The transcoder logs are extremely difficult to decipher. Which logs would be specifically helpful to look through? On version 1.9.2.4285
Same issue here but only on second recording
To clarify the first recording I said on my dual tuner works, the second one always says Transcodes error when trying to record two shows at the same time
Plex Media Server.log is the one to start with.
Ok, I looked through it but its still a little rough because of all the debug entries. Not sure If I should have had that on. Is there any problem with posting it here?
This shows up right away, but I think this was after a server restart.

Did you ever get your issue fixed? I seem to be having the same problem, with similar Widows 10 setup (Plex Server Version 1.9.6.4385 ). Every recording starts and finished instantly, and the Recording Schedule says “there was a transcoder error”. I did recently update the firmware (20170930) on my HDHR Prime Tuners, I wonder if this caused the issue?
Unfortunately no I didn’t. Sounds like the same problem I’m having. It’s definitely a plex problem. I switched to the hd homerun DVR application they sell with the tuner and it works like a champ. Hasn’t missed a recording yet.
Unfortunately this was my only reason for plex pass, so I’ll cancel it.

Well I tried to fix by entirely deleting and reinstalling Plex server and the problem, still persists: recording “completes”immediately after starting, empty file created, transcoder error.
Yea I tried that too. No luck. If you’re in the market for a new tuner, the home run hd is great, and the software for it is like $25 per year I think. The DVR works so much better than Plex.
