Transcoder issue with "Use hardware acceleration when available" / TS-653D

Hello,

I have new Qnap NAS (TS-653D/ J4125) and facing transcoder issue with “Use hardware acceleration when available”. When I use Plex server to transcode H.264, the Plex version is not good for view for any resolution (1080/720/480/…) but the QNAP convert function is perfect and no issue. I was wondering why older QNAP NAS (TS-453A /N3160) which is not issue to use hardware transcoder for Plex.

Server Version#: 1.20.1.3213
Player Version#: 8.2.1.18636 or about.

There is a known bug in the Intel iHD_drv_video.so interface driver (from Intel) on all J4xxx CPUs.

Temporary workaround is to add the option VaapiDriver="i965" to Preferences.xml before the closing /> marker.

If you have the “PlexData” share in use, you can use the QNAP text editor in FileStation to add this option. It looks like VaapiDriver="i965" />

This is added when PMS is stopped. After restart, the image quality will return.

Great to hear the workaround!!! Solution is work for me. Thanks ChuckPa.
