Hey all,
Not sure id this is a Linux issue when HW Transcoding to devices like the Roku, but I’m seeing when any of the Roku’s stream from the server, that needs to transcode, it shows the bandwidth reserved for playback as 10Gbps, wish I had that kind of speed!!
The Server is an i7 3770, 16Gb RAM, Ubuntu MATE 20.04LTS, 7 Hard drives totalling around 50Tb and a Nvidia Quadro K2200 with the latest driver installed. I’ve noticed this show even from the Roku TV in the Lounge and the other 2 Roku Devices also. Is this a known bug with the Transode Brain?
The XML info does show the video bitrate. So it goes back to my original comment that there is no limit being applied. Since this is being played locally, bandwidth limits are not applied anyways so this value doesn’t impact anything.
Hi There,
Many thanks for the explanation!! It just got me worried that the latest beta had an issue with Transcoding. If only the Roku Devices would direct play MPEG4, but I know the GPU I have in the server does it without an issue, I was given an Nvidia Quadro K2200 4Gb version, which hasn’t missed a beat yet, even with H265 on other devices that cannot do that direct.
I tried it on my Honor 9x running the latest beta of the Plex Player and it actually plays it directly on both local network and 4G… It’s definitely a codec licensing thing!
