Hi all, I’m trying to figure out if I can limit remote streaming/transcoding from a server based on more advanced parameters. Specifically, if a file is 4K (or a certain bitrate/higher), DON’T allow somebody to stream it with transcode - only allow original quality, IF there is another stream/transcode going on already on the server (local or remote, doesn’t matter).
The intent is to provide some 4K transcode limitations since the the Shield Pro struggles to do a 4K transcode and anything else at the same time - but it can handle ONE at a time without causing buffering/stuttering on the other thing streaming.
Tautulli does not run on the Shield. You will need a separate system if you need it to run 7x24. See Installation Instructions for a list of supported systems.
ideally you should avoid transcoding 4k completely by putting them in a separately library and not using 4k content on anything that doesn’t direct play 4k.
Never considered that… but what about when I want to make a collection with movies from both libraries, that will work ok? Personally I don’t like the idea of having “movies” and “movies 4k” on the side either, but if it’s the only way…
