Hi guys.
Right now plex player for windows allows to choose bitrate for transcoding. It’s pretty good if you have slow internet or wifi. But could you get possibility to select format on the client side (or at least on the server side)? for example several predefined variants like h264, h265. It will help to use only format that can be played on the client without significant cpu load. Or it can help to save traffic if I use only h265 for any video (even for small video)

Thank you for the quick answer. But it’s about special versions for different devices. I don’t want to have several versions of each video. they take place and it isn’t automatic process. My server has enough power to transcode all video in run time. And it will be great to have possibility to configure format of video on the client
Are you asking for the capability to transcode to H.265?
Plex currently transcodes all video to H.264.
There is a Feature Request to transcode to H.265. You can add your vote to the request.

But It will be good to have possibility to choose h264 or h265 on client side. Because some client’s has hardware acceleration of h264 but doesn’t have it for h265 (they support h265 but cpu loading is too high).
