Quick question,

Will PLEX HW transcode using dual X5670 XEONs or newer E5 XEONs with some kind of GPU like a Nvidia 1070?

I’m looking to build a new box but I’m basing it on server hardware of which I can only really use E5 XEONs which do not have Intel QuickSync. My current setup is with the X5670s but I get some shuddering during 4k transcoding. It has gotten much better with the last two or three PMS updates but I’m looking at adding 6 more TV tuners and 24TB of HDD.

I just want to know if I build a newer system with E5 XEONs and put a single or a dual 1070 GFX setup, will PM utilize the HW for transcoding.

The 2010 Xeon predates Intel Quick Sync video.
Although there is work in progress to support external GPUs, there is no timeline on its completion.
